DULUTH – Caitlin Reilly scored twice and added an assist to lead the Gophers women's hockey team to a 4-1 victory over Minnesota Duluth on Friday afternoon at Amsoil Arena.

Sidney Peters stopped 34 shots for the No. 7 Gophers (4-2-1, 3-1-1 WCHA), who were outshot 35-23 by the No. 8 Bulldogs (2-5, 0-3). UMD also had a penalty shot late in the second period, after co-captain Sydney Baldwin was called for hooking, but didn't score. Catherine Johnson made 19 saves for the Bulldogs.

Reilly's unassisted goal at 5 minutes, 19 seconds of the third period — her second goal of the game — gave the Gophers a 3-1 lead. It came only 28 seconds after UMD's Jessica Healey scored near the end of a five-minute power play for the Bulldogs. Minnesota's Cara Piazza got the penalty and a game misconduct for checking from behind.

Reilly later added an assist on Taylor Wente's goal at 15:33 of the third.

The Gophers took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Reilly and Piazza.

Reilly, a senior forward who played for Benilde-St. Margaret's, has five goals this season, most on the team. She had a team-high six shots on goal and was plus-3 for the game.
