Buses enroute to Shakopee transit hub

Shakopee's Marschall Road Transit Station, largely quiet since it opened last summer, is likely to see a pickup in traffic when express bus service starts in late February.

Local circulator buses have been the main users of the $6.6 million station. Soon, however, three more buses obtained by Prior Lake with federal Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality money will be arriving.

They'll be followed later in the year by three vehicles obtained by Shakopee.

Express service, which is scheduled to begin Feb. 23, will run between the Marschall Road station and downtown Minneapolis. It will be operated by the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority.
