Washington – It's not exactly the Ripken brothers all over again, but the Baltimore Orioles have a pair of brothers on their major league roster for the first time since Hall of Famer Cal Jr. and Billy played together from 1987 to '1992.
Catcher Caleb Joseph joined utility infielder Corban Joseph when he was recalled from Class AAA Norfolk on Tuesday.
Caleb, 32, began the season as the Orioles' starting catcher but was optioned to the minors on May 17 after batting .182 in 24 games.
Corban, 29, was summoned from Norfolk on Friday and played in his first big league game since a two-game stint with the Yankees in 2013.
This is the first time both players have been in the majors at the same time.
"The first goal was to get to the big leagues at the same time, and then to be on the same team, this is a storybook [tale] for our family," Caleb said. "It's pretty incredible."
Corban added: "It's like a dream that you never thought would actually come true actually panning out."
It's the first time two brothers have been on the same big league roster since Justin Upton and Melvin Upton Jr. both played on the 2015 San Diego Padres.
