Brittany Lincicome won the LPGA Tour's season-opening Pure Silk Bahamas Classic on Sunday in wind and rain, beating U.S. Solheim Cup teammate Lexi Thompson with a birdie on the first hole of a playoff on the Ocean Club at Paradise Island.
Lincicome birdied the par-5 18th for a 5-under 68 and 26-under 266 total. Thompson, a group behind, parred for a 70, but she hit her second shot of the playoff over the green. Lincicome two-putted for birdie.
The wind was gusting to 35 miles per hour, and a driving rain began as Thompson played her final hole.
"I was thinking that I was very lucky," Lincicome said. "For Lexi to make par on 18 with those conditions is pretty awesome."
Stacy Lewis, undone by a triple-bogey 7 on No. 14, was third at 25 under after a 71.
