The white-robed boys choir Libera from South London, who have sung before Pope Benedict XVI and Pres. George W. Bush and rack in a million-plus YouTube views on their concert videos, will make their first stop in the Twin Cities this weekend.
Their program, complete with Celtic-band-style accompaniment, dramatic lighting and choreography, includes songs ranging from sacred to music of Enya and the Beach Boys.
Twenty-eight boys ages 8 to 16 gave up their summer break, which is shorter in England, for the U.S. tour, continuing to Chicago, St. Louis, Dallas and Houston. But it's not all business and no pleasure for the Brits.
After singing at the Starkey Hearing Foundation's St. Paul gala July 24, which attracted big stars Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cirus, Reba McEntire and more, the boys spent a couple of days at Madden's Resort in Brainerd. Thursday, they'll hit Valleyfair.
Tickets for the shows, tonight at St. Mary's Basilica in Minneapolis and Friday's at the Cathedral of St. Paul, both 7:30 p.m., are available at www.ticketweb.com or at the door. Prices range from $10 to $40.
