Sergio Garcia, more than a year since his last victory, made two big shots Sunday that made him the winner of the PGA Tour's Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson, Mich.
Garcia hit a 5-wood that barely cleared a bunker on No. 15 and set up an eagle putt from just inside 4 feet to tie for the lead, and he won with an 8-iron to 30 inches for birdie on the final hole. He shot a 3-under-par 69 to finish at 19-under 269 and move up to No. 38 in the world.
"The perfect ending for an amazing week," Garcia said of his first PGA Tour victory since he won the Masters in 2017.
Peter Malnati shot a career-best 63 and finished second, a stroke behind.
Brit wins LPGA event
Mel Reid, a 33-year-old Brit, knocked in a 2-foot birdie putt on the final hole, closing with a 4-under 67 to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway, N.J., by two strokes.

Canterbury trainer hits it big
Bodenheimer, who broke his maiden at Canterbury Park last summer for trainer Valorie Lund, earned a berth in next month's Breeders' Cup with a victory in Sunday's Indian Summer Stakes at Keeneland.
The 5½-furlong turf race offered the winner an automatic, free entry into the $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint. Bodenheimer, a 2-year-old colt, has three victories in four starts, including an 11¼-length score July 29 in his career debut at Canterbury.
The victory was the first at Keeneland for Lund, a regular at Canterbury Park. Keeneland, in Lexington, Ky., also is hosting the Breeders' Cup. The Juvenile Turf Sprint is Nov. 6.
