Briefly: Quarterback Case Keenum leaves Broncos for Redskins

March 8, 2019 at 6:53AM

Case Keenum is on the move again, leaving the Denver Broncos for the Washington Redskins, a person with knowledge of the deal said Thursday.

The teams agreed that Keenum's contract will be reworked so that the Broncos and Redskins each pay half of the $7 million he was guaranteed in 2019.

The teams will also swap 2020 draft picks, with Denver receiving a sixth-rounder and Washington a seventh-rounder.

The Broncos decided to move on from Keenum, a veteran quarterback who left the Vikings for Denver after the 2017 season, last month when they struck a deal to acquire Joe Flacco from the Baltimore Ravens. Like the Keenum trade, the Flacco trade cannot become official until the start of the league financial year, March 13.

Keenum, 21, joins his fifth NFL team after stints with the Texans, Rams, Vikings and Broncos.
