Briefing: Man gets 18 years in sex-trafficking of Mpls. teenager

A man was sentenced to 18 years in prison after being accused of sex-trafficking a 13-year-old Minneapolis runaway in Moorhead.

WDAY-TV and KFGO-AM reported that 25-year-old Prince Jones was sentenced Thursday. He had been convicted in March by a Clay County jury of promoting prostitution of an individual and must serve at least 12 years of his sentence in prison. Jones was accused of transporting the girl from the Twin Cities to Moorhead and posting a prostitution ad online. He was arrested at a Moorhead motel.

The defense argued Jones should have received a seven-year sentence because police found out about it before the girl could actually be prostituted. Another person charged in the case, Eyeesha Hinton, is serving a four-year sentence.

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in St. Cloud early Friday morning and faces possible second-degree murder and assault charges, police said.

The local teen, who has not been identified, is suspected of killing 20-year-old Davee Moshea Devose, of St. Cloud, after a verbal altercation became heated. Police said the suspect, along with three other males, was walking by a residence at the intersection of 6th Avenue and 5th Street S. around 1:40 a.m. when a confrontation occurred. A street fight broke out and Devose was stabbed one time in the chest.

After fleeing the scene, the juvenile was apprehended by police in the alleyway in the 900 block of 5th Avenue S., where he was held on a curfew violation. Police said he later confessed to stabbing Devose, who was found dead at the scene. Investigators also found a knife about half a block from where the incident occurred.

Police say a naked man ran into a Rochester couple's home and took a shower. KAAL-TV reported that police were called to the home around 3 p.m. Thursday. Lurene and William Witzig said they were reading when a man they didn't know came inside their home through the garage, which was open.

Lurene Witzig said she saw the man naked in the kitchen and pointed him toward the bathroom, where he jumped into the shower. She said the man was screaming and acting irrationally. An ambulance transported the man to a hospital. Police are treating it as a medical call.
