A body believed to be that of a missing 29-year-old man was found Thursday evening in Brainerd, police said.
Initial indications are that the body is that of John Greenwaldt of Brainerd, who had been missing since July 14, police said. It was found about 4:50 p.m. in a wooded area near the 300 block of Hattie Street.
The Ramsey County medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy to determine a positive identification and cause of death.
Brainerd police were assisted by search-and-rescue teams from Central Lakes and the Minnesota Search and Rescue Dog Association. The Crow County Sheriff’s Office and Brainerd Fire Department were also involved. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating.
