On the mountain, under the lights The parallel giant slalom is a peculiar race anyway, with only two appearances on the World Cup schedule this year. It was even more peculiar Monday in Alta Badia, Italy, where lights were in place for night racing. Fittingly, Norway’s Rasmus Windingstad didn’t allow for a bit of normalcy. He made the race his first career victory, defeating Stefan Luitz of Germany by 0.41 seconds in the final. (The Minnesota Star Tribune)

Toronto, already blessed with a promising group of young hitters, continues to add pitching. Hyun-Jin Ryu is exiting Los Angeles and heading north.

Ryu and the Blue Jays agreed to an $80 million, four-year contract, according to a person familiar with the negotiations.

Ryu went 14-5 with a major league-best 2.32 ERA for the Dodgers last season. He started for the National League in his first All-Star Game and finished second in Cy Young Award voting.

Toronto is building around three sons of former big league stars who broke into the majors last season: Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio. Looking to surround them with proven pitching, the Blue Jays are set to add Ryu to the top of a rotation that will also include newcomers Tanner Roark and Chase Anderson.
