Biovest International said it will work with a New York-based research center to conduct studies showing the efficiency of the company's instruments to manufacture virus-fighting products.

The company said it hopes the studies with the Ordway Research Institute will support its proposals within the Department of Defense to produce "medical countermeasures to protect military and civilian populations."

One of the instruments involved in the study is Biovest's AutovaxID system.

Biovest plans to use the AutovaxID system to manufacture personalized cancer vaccines in Coon Rapids. The company plans to meet with the FDA this year to seek government approval for its vaccine, that will treat non-Hodgkin's B-cell lymphoma.
