Crego, 18 of Champlin, has been a swim instructor at Foss Swim School in Maple Grove for several months. "The kids make it so much fun, their expressions are priceless," Crego said. "They get so excited over a simple high five." Crego's father found the job opening
The Foss Swim School in Maple Grove (and other locations) teaches everything from the basics to competitive swimming. (The Minnesota Star Tribune)

Founded by Bloomington native and former competitive swimmer Jon Foss, these schools (seven in Minnesota, three in Illinois) are designed to teach the competitive strokes, with a comfortable 300-yard swim required for graduation. With toasty 91-degree water, the schools welcome swimmers beginning at age 6 months, helping them learn the baby back float and get comfortable in water. All ages are welcome in the classes designed by Foss himself. The school's teachers learn directly from the owner and are known for creating a fun, safe and friendly atmosphere for kids and families. Until recently, the schools were only in the suburbs, but not anymore: Foss has opened a school at the shuttered Bally's club on University Avenue near Lexington in St. Paul. Group and private lessons are available year-round. School motto: Swimmers Guaranteed. fossswimschool.com
