It's safe to say that the kitchen at Bar La Grassa has sold so many servings of its utterly addictive gnocchi with cauliflower and orange that Isaac Becker, the restaurant's James Beard award-winning chef and co-owner, should probably keep count with one of those McDonald's-like "billions served" signs. It's no one-hit wonder, either; Becker has probably funded his children's college expenses on the popularity of his bruschetta heaping with creamy scrambled eggs and sweet poached lobster. And that's just at BLG. At 112 Eatery, his other popularity contest-winning restaurant, Becker would probably be run out of town if he stopped serving the sweet-and-sour crab salad, the tagliatelle with foie gras meatballs and the beyond-awesome butterscotch budino.
