BEMIDJI, Minn. - A former Bemidji elementary teacher accused of molesting young children on school property has been found dead.

Authorities say 58-year-old John Wangberg was found dead in his rural Cass Lake home Wednesday afternoon. Wangberg was arraigned on two felony sexual conduct charges and a gross misdemeanor last week in Beltrami County District Court.

Wangberg taught at Central Elementary School for 30 years, but resigned just days before the first of three alleged victims came forward in March 2011. He was accused of having sexual contact with victims between the ages of 5 and 7.

The Bemidji Pioneer ( http://bit.ly/W21N4Q) says police are investigating Wangberg's death.
