Winter foodAs the weather cools, bacon grease makes for a fine bird food. Here's how: Pour the grease into an empty tuna can, then put the can in the refrigerator or freezer until the grease becomes firm. Punch a hole in the rim of the can and use a wire to hang the can from a tree branch or feeder support.
Bacon grease appeals to birds just as much as suet, but it's best in winter, when the temperatures are low enough to keep the grease solid while hanging.
