The Wolves won for the first time since the season's second game, defeating the Kings 98-89 in Sacramento on a night when Michael Beasley followed Kevin Love's 23-point, 24-rebound game in L.A. by scoring 42.

He surpassed by 12 points his previous career high of 30, reached with Miami against Memphis last February.

He became the ninth player in Wolves history to score 40 or more points in a game and he did so with 18 points in the first 10 minutes and 27 points in the first half alone.

That list also includes such players as Ricky Davis, Stephon Marbury, Randy Breuer, Wally Szczerbiak, Isaiah Rider, Al Jefferson and a guy named Garnett.

Beasley outscored Kings reigning Rookie of the Year Tyreke Evans by 37 points and did so on 17 for 31 shooting.

Evans was in foul trouble all night and fouled out with nine minutes still left in the game.

The Wolves had one player score 30 or more points in a game last year, and that was Big Al with 36 in a game against Dallas in March.

His 27 in a half was three away from the 30 Ricky Davis put up in a 2007 game.

The team record for points in a quarter is held by Chauncey Billups, with 24 against Dallas in February 2002.

The franchise record for points in a game is Garnett's 47 agaisnt Pheonix in January 2005.

Here's the game story from tonight with all the details about Beasley's night, Sebastian Telfair's second straight start at point guard and Kevin Love's fourth-quarter after a completely forgettable night before then.

That's all I got from Sacramento tonight.

Wolves fly home home Thursday morning and plan New York at Target Center Friday night before they head out on the road again for games at Atlanta and Charlotte to start next week.

Look for the Wolves to sign Sundiata Gaines as another point guard to help fill the void until Luke Ridnour and Jonny Flynn come back. Sounds like he's the frontrunner from today's four-player workout in Sacramento.
