Mischa Barton's recent health problems won't keep her from acting, according to the producers of her upcoming CW drama, "The Beautiful Life."

"She's in New York City, working today," said Ashton Kutcher. The show is partly based on his life as a small-town teenager stumbling into the world of high-fashion modeling. "She was never unavailable for a day of work." Barton, best known for her stint on "The O.C.," was hospitalized from July 15-27 for undisclosed medical reasons.

CW entertainment president Dawn Ostroff said that the idea of Barton's not participating in the series never came up. "I'm happy she's better," she said. "What happened in her personal life is personal."

In other CW news, Ostroff said it "doesn't look likely" that there will be a spinoff of "Gossip Girl," and both Kim Kardashian and Lauren Conrad will serve as guest judges during the next season of "America's Next Top Model." Also addressing critics Tuesday: Laura Leighton, Elle Macpherson and "High School Musical" sensation Corbin Bleu.
