Barea, Pek out for 2-game trip to Memphis, Charlotte

Ridnour and Beasley will play through injuries

The Timberwolves are about to fly out right about now to that two-game trip to Memphis and Charlotte without either starting center Nikola Pekovic and J.J. Barea.

Neither practiced today -- nor did Kevin Love.

Pekovic said Sunday he won't play until Friday at the earliest because of painful bone spurs discovered on his left ankle.

Barea sustained a thigh contusion in Friday's double-overtime loss at Oklahoma City, even though afterward he attributed his first career triple-double that night to finally being healthy.

So much for that...

Luke Ridnour and Michael Beasley did travel, even though they're hurting.

Ridnour said he will play on, even though you can now add a groin injury to the list of a sore back and whacked nose that he sustained on the long road trip.

And who says nobody can fill Love's shoes on this team?

Beasley did on Sunday, wearing a pair of Love's sneakers because their width -- "He has a fat foot," Beasley said -- helped that painfully sprained big toe feel a little better.

"I might have to steal another pair," he said.
