The Gophers women's hockey team had not faced a ranked opponent this season. Until Thursday, that is. On the road no less.

And it was another one-sided win. No. 1-ranked Minnesota beat No. 7 North Dakota 5-1 at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks, taking a comfortable lead with three goals in the opening period.

Caitlin Reilly scored 4½ minutes into the game. Defenseman Milica McMillen got a power-play goal seven minutes later. And Kate Schipper got the visitors' third goal with three minute left.

Nina Rodgers made it 4-0 eight minutes into the middle period.

The Gophers (9-0-0, 7-0-0 conference) came into this series outscoring opponents by an average of 5.6 goals per game and with four shutouts.

UND (5-2-2, 3-2-2-1) avoided that fate when Becca Kohler scored on a power play at 2:25 of the third to cut Minnesota's lead to 4-1.

Megan Wolfe restored the Gophers' four-goal lead four minutes later. Nine different Minnesota players had at least one point; none more than two.

The Gophers were 3-1 vs. UND last season and hold a 47-7 lead in the all-time series.

Amanda Leveille made 18 saves for the Gophers, Shelby Amsley-Benzie had 19 stops for UND.
