Arts briefs: Get away from winter at Burnhaven Library

For anyone who's dreaming of warmer climates as the winter sets in, the Burnhaven Library has some travel-themed events lined up for January.

The library's Winter Wednesday film series will include a pair of travel films. The topic for Jan. 11 is Sydney and Queensland, Australia, and for Jan. 25 it's eastern Africa. No registration is necessary. The films will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on each date.

On Jan. 14, blogger and author Charlotte Hilton Andersen will offer advice on starting your own travel blog with pictures, journal entries and video. The session is scheduled for 2-3:30 p.m.

Lebanon Hills plans New Year's Eve partyThe Lebanon Hills Regional Park is planning a New Year's Eve party from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at its visitor center at 860 Cliff Road in Eagan.

Festivities will include candlelit hiking, snowshoeing and a lit sledding hill. Bring a sled, or snowshoes will be available for rent.

Admission is $8 if pre-registered by Thursday or $10 at the door. Ages 5 and under will be admitted free.
