HOUSTON – For only the third time in World Series history, the visiting team has won the first five games.
"I don't think there's really a rhyme or reason why maybe that's happened," Astros relief pitcher Will Harris said.
The Nationals outscored the Astros 17-7 in the first two games at Minute Maid Park last week. After the travel day, Houston outscored the Nationals 19-3 in three games in Washington.
This is the first time the road team has won the first five games since 1996. Including Boston's victories at Dodger Stadium in Games 4 and 5 last year, visiting teams have won seven straight World Series games for the first time.
Home teams are 43-24 in Game 6, winning five of the past six.
Injury update
The Nationals remained unsure about the health of pitcher Max Scherzer and catcher Kurt Suzuki heading into Game 6.
Scherzer was scratched from his Game 5 start Sunday night because of nerve irritation near his neck and had a cortisone shot. Scherzer won the opener and hopes to be able to pitch in a Game 7 if the Nationals get that far.
Suzuki has missed the past two games after injuring his right hip flexor.
