Nashville cop indicted in black man's death

A grand jury has indicted a white police officer on a charge of first-degree murder in the killing of an armed black man. Prosecutors allege that Nashville officer Andrew Delke, 25, pulled into an apartment parking lot after seeing a car he mistook for one he had been following. Daniel Hambrick, also 25, was in the area at the time and began to run. Part of the chase and the shooting were caught on video. Delke's attorney David Raybin said that he will enter a plea of not guilty. Hambrick was shot in the back, torso and the back of his head.

Oregon

Four people are slain in rural home

A rural Oregon man killed four members of his household at the home they shared and was shot by sheriff's deputies as he tried to kill a girl, authorities said. Mark Leo Gregory Gago, 42, killed his parents, his girlfriend and their infant daughter Saturday night before deputies shot him, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office said. Investigators are trying to determine what kind of weapon was used to kill each person.

Mexico

Death toll from gas explosion up to 85

The death toll from the ghastly pipeline explosion in central Mexico has risen to 85. Fifty-eight others are hospitalized and dozens more are missing. Hidalgo state Gov. Omar Fayad said that nine of the 68 remains found at the site have been identified, but it may take months to identify the rest. The state and federal governments say they are covering medical and funeral costs.
