Jonathan Bernier made 43 saves for his 100th NHL win, and the Anaheim Ducks cooled off the Chicago Blackhawks with a 1-0 victory on Thursday.
Corey Perry scored in the second period as host Anaheim ended Chicago's seven-game winning streak despite being outshot 43-26 on the night. Corey Crawford blocked 25 shots as the Blackhawks lost for only the second time in their last 14 games.
Bernier's second shutout this season and 14th of his career helped the Ducks pull ahead of idle Edmonton for second place in the Pacific Division. Bernier made his sixth straight start with John Gibson sidelined a lower-body injury.
Perry stopped a 10-game scoring drought with his 12th goal at 17:44. He hadn't connected since scoring twice on Feb. 9 at Buffalo.
Calgary 5, Montreal 0: Johnny Gaudreau had a goal and three assists, and the host Flames beat the Canadiens for their eighth consecutive victory — their longest win streak since November 2005.
San Jose 4, Washington 2: Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski scored at even strength and Logan Couture added two power-play goals as the host Sharks defeated the Capitals.
Carolina 4, N.Y. Rangers 3: Rookie Sebastian Aho scored the go-ahead power-play goal with 7:32 remaining for the host Hurricanes.
Colorado 3, New Jersey 2: Francois Beauchemin scored with 1:14 left in the third period, and the host Avalanche handed the Devils their fifth straight loss. The Avalanche picked up its second straight win for just the fourth time this season.
