Mod quad From many, one. Blu Dot's new Shilf modular shelving system is basically Lego-like but with notched, overlapping parts. Each free-standing piece -- a combination of footings, short and tall "blocks" and short and long shelves -- is designed to fit together in four possible combinations. Components range from $49 for each foot block to $149 for the longest shelf. The lowest horizontal combo is priced at $742, the tallest version, pictured, costs $1,862. The ivory-colored pieces are made from powder-coated steel and assemble without tools or hardware. Available at the company's Dot Spot inside Roam, 811 Glenwood Av., Minneapolis, or at www.bludot.com.
