Minnesota Scene: Gophers women to play St. Cloud State at Roseville rink

The Gophers women's hockey team will play St. Cloud State at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Roseville Skating Center in the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame game.

No. 3 Minnesota (15-3, 11-3 WCHA) is coming off losing two games at Wisconsin last weekend. The Huskies (8-8-2, 4-8-2-2) have lost 27 games in a row to Minnesota.

U signs 15 in track

The Gophers women's track and field and cross-country programs signed 15 athletes, including 10 from the state.

The Minnesotans: Meleah Biermaier of Thief River Falls (hurdler); Jenna Conzemius of Hastings and Brieasha Hunter of St. Paul (middle distance runners from Cretin-Derham Hall); Carissa Dock of Waconia (middle distance); Maddie Gourley of Eagan (sprinter); Lindsey Greenlund of Rochester (Mayo, middle distance); Bethany and Megan Hasz of Alexandria (distance runners); Natalie Manders of Apple Valley (discus, Eastview), and Ashley Ramacher of Eden Prairie (high jump, hurdles).

Also signing with the Gophers were Sofie Albrechtsen of Esbjerg, Denmark (multi-events, high jumper); Hannah Arason of Grand Forks (Red River), N.D. (multi-events, javelin); Delaney Eigenberger of Madison (Memorial), Wis. (distance runner); Alyssa Faucett of Wausau (West), Wis. (sprinter), and Elyse Prescott of Urbandale, Iowa (distance runner).

Volleyball honor

Junior middle blocker Paige Tapp of the Gophers was named to CoSIDA's second All-America academic team in volleyball. She has a 3.87 GPA as a marketing major.
