Make-A-Wish Minnesota has cut ties with a vehicle-donation charity that is being investigated by Minnesota's attorney general.
Car Donation Foundation was accused last week of putting little money toward its advertised mission, while steering millions to for-profit companies owned by the group's founders.
The St. Paul-based foundation solicits vehicle donations under a "Wheels for Wishes" program that pledges proceeds to local Make-A-Wish chapters to help children battling cancer.
Mike Kust, board chairman at Make-A-Wish Minnesota, confirmed in an e-mail to the Associated Press on Tuesday that it ended its relationship with Car Donation Foundation. He provided no additional details.
Attorney General Lori Swanson accused the car donation charity of lacking transparency. The foundation issued a statement last week saying it disagreed with Swanson's claims.
