NFL notebook: Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch to miss second game

Marshawn Lynch will miss a second consecutive week for the Seattle Seahawks because of a hamstring strain.

The Seahawks on Friday officially ruled Lynch out for Sunday's game against the Cincinnati Bengals (4-0). He injured his hamstring in the second quarter of the Seahawks' 26-0 victory over the Chicago Bears in Week 3.

"He could try to come back and play, but we think he'd be vulnerable," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. "He needs another weekend to get through it."

Fines handed out

Buffalo Bills defensive end Jerry Hughes was fined more than $30,000 by the NFL on Friday for incidents in last weekend's loss to the New York Giants.

Hughes, who has a history of verbally admonishing game officials, was fined $23,152 for abusive language toward an official and $8,681 for unnecessary roughness for head-butting Giants tackle Ereck Flowers.

New York receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was fined $8,681 for throwing punches and striking Buffalo's Duke Williams in the same game.

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford was fined $5,787 for wearing improper blue Nike cleats in Monday night's 13-10 loss to the Seahawks.

Etc.

• Brian Hoyer has his job back as Houston's starting quarterback. For now. "It's 11 one-game seasons so he's the starter for Jacksonville," Texans coach Bill O'Brien said.

• Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga could return for Sunday's game against St. Louis after missing the past three weeks with a left knee injury.

• Four of the Broncos' starting offensive linemen were either hobbled or sidelined at practice this week.
