La-Z-Boy has taught its old cog a new trick. The manufacturer has designed the "Arc," a cast aluminum alloy handle, as an alternative to the wooden side handle of its iconic recliner and other motion seating. Nickel-plating is designed to protect against scratches; the optional upgrade costs $50. Available now at several Minnesota retailers; see a locator at www.lazboy.com.

Notes Now open: The Nest, a garden and home decor/gift shop in Buffalo, Minn. Owner Stephanie Beyer has stocked her shop with an eclectic mix of accents. Among them: cast stone urns, troughs, vases and other garden pieces, bird cages and walls' worth of bright reproduction canvases of original work by a collective of 25 artists in oils, pastels and collage.
