December 14, 2007 at 1:26AM

Madonna and John Mellencamp, 1980s stars whose hit-making careers have endured into this century, lead the 23rd annual induction class of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Also voted in are poetic Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen, surf-rock pioneers the Ventures and the Dave Clark Five, part the 1960s British invasion. Also named to the Hall were blues harmonica legend Little Walter, in the sideman category, and Philadelphia soul producing/songwriting team Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff, in the nonperformer category. They worked on such 1970s classics as "Love Train" and "Me and Mrs. Jones." The official induction ceremony will be held March 10.
