Friday-Sunday: Play it again, St. Paul, that familiar springtime melody that sets art fans dancing in the downtown streets. A three-day festival of art, music, food and fun, the St. Paul Art Crawl is an annual rite of spring when hundreds of artists open their studios and tout their winter creativity. Expect to find paintings and pottery, drawings and jewelry, photos and wearables, maybe a handwoven rug or some artisanal chocolates and craft beer. Don Biehn's summery image is shown here. Artists are collaborating again with the St. Paul Saints baseball team, whose new ballpark, CHS Field, has risen in Lowertown. This year 100 artists have created 100 artful "Homeplates" garnished with ball-themed paintings, photos, sculpture and other designs. Check them out in the ballpark's concourse gallery behind home plate. Getting to the crawl is cheap and easy with a free weekend transit pass, available through Metro Transit.
