'9 Artists'

Opening Thursday: Tossing everything into the mix — sculpture, drawing, painting, installation, video, ephemera — the international artists in this Walker-organized show come from all over the world, live transnational lives and wrestle with the perennial question: How does my biography define my life? They are Yael Bartana, Danh Vo, Natascha Sadr Haghighian, Renzo Martens, Bjarne Melgaard, Liam Gillick, Nástio Mosquito and Hito Steyerl (a detail from her video is shown). Math mavens will note only eight names, despite the show's title. Curator Bart Ryan says the unnamed ninth artist is a nod to the myriad collaborators. Opening-night festivities (5-9 p.m. Thu., free) include dedication of a tombstone sculpture by Vo in performance with Los Angeles singer Jamie Stewart. (Walker Art Center, 1750 Hennepin Av. S., Mpls. $8-$12 adults. Ends Feb. 16. 612-375-7600, www.walkerart.org.)
