Two more Thursdays

OK, the idea of an art gallery throwing a few "guys' shopping nights" in December is a little obvious, maybe. But it's fun, too, especially when the gallery in question has such buyer-friendly fare as handmade jewelry, one-of-a-kind silk scarves, regional pottery, woodcarvings, colorful glass vases and bowls, smart felt hats, clever gloves and socks, and woodblock prints by popular children's book author Betsy Bowen of Duluth. Besides Bowen's "Great Blue Heron" woodcut, shown here, the gallery will feature her books and new 2012 calendar. There are just two more special Guys' Nights -- Dec. 15 and Dec. 22. Grand Hand calls them "shopping happy hours" and serves local craft beer, chips and salsa from nearby La Cucaracha. All that and free gift-wrapping, too.
