BENEFIT BONANZA

Friday and Saturday: Twin Cities artists are in a generous mood this weekend, dispersing their work in two benefits for earthquake victims -- and one for the birds. • Charming quasi-primitive paintings and sculpture from Haiti, the Caribbean and tribal cultures will be sold this afternoon in a family-friendly event for Partners in Health and Episcopal Relief and Development (2-8 p.m., St. James Church, 3225 E. Minnehaha Pkwy., Mpls. 612-501-4134 or 612-822-2747).

• On Saturday the action moves to northeast Minneapolis, where 30 painters, photographers and other talents are holding a silent auction and sale with proceeds to Save the Children (7:30-9:30 p.m., Creative Electric Studios, 2201 NE. 2nd St., 612-396-7472).

• Bird fanciers will head for the eighth-annual Bird X Bird event, where painters, photographers, sculptors and printmakers are offering their work for the benefit of the Audubon Center of the North Woods and Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden and Bird Sanctuary. Expect a delightful selection of contemporary art with bird motifs such as Jennifer Davis' winsome drawing shown here. (6-9 p.m. Sat., $5. Northrup King Building, Gallery 322, 1500 NE. Jackson St., Mpls. greatmiddlewest.com/bxb)
