From Beyond the window
Continuing: After more than a century of exhibitions, the meaning, significance and place of abstraction is still debated in art history. The dozen artists featured in this exhibition deploy gestural marks, planes of color, stripes, grids and other patterns as anchors of compositions they see as windows into "conceptual space." Primarily residents of Minnesota, the artists are: Roberta Allen, Kara Andree, Barbara Kreft, Alexis Kuhr, Ann Ledy, Arlene Burke-Morgan, Lisa Nankivil, Stuart Nielsen, Ann Pibal, Karl Pilato, David Rich and Clarence Morgan, whose gaily patterned design is shown here. At 6 p.m. Wed., art critic Dore Ashton and Bethel University art professor Wayne Roosa will discuss issues in abstraction, with a reception following. (11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tue.-Sat. Ends March 29. Free.
