Made in Minnesota

Opening Thursday: Anyone looking for a signature Minnesota art style would be hard pressed to find it in the work of the 21 sculptors featured in "Made in Minnesota." Spanning several generations of state-based talent, the show features utilitarian objects made of stone and wood, Buddhist-inspired sculpture, jewelry, abstract and realistic designs, tiny carvings and boulders strung together with steel rods. The toy-like sculpture shown here is by Dean Lucker. A sampling of the state's many talents, the show celebrates the diversity of spirit that characterizes Minnesota's art scene. (Panel discussion 6-7 p.m. Thu., followed by reception until 9 p.m. Free. Katherine E. Nash Gallery, Regis Center for Art, University of Minnesota, 405 21st Av. S., Mpls. Open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tue.-Sat. through Feb. 15. 612-624-6518 or www.nash.umn.edu)
