Art: On the lighter side

May 21, 2009 at 11:27PM

Opening today: Can we toot a horn for a colleague? Star Tribune cartoonist Steve Sack has been toiling in the cubby holes of the newspaper's editorial offices for three decades, making fun of politicians' follies, lousy weather, bad economies, takeovers, makeovers and probably even fishing openers. To say nothing of mad cow disease, bird flu and other maladies as suggested in the cartoon seen here. Knowing everyone needs a chuckle, especially now, the Bloomington Art Center is hosting a mostly nonpolitical Sack show including a gallery talk by the funny one himself. (Through June 26, free. Reception 6-8 p.m. Thu. 1800 W. Old Shakopee Rd., Bloomington. Artist talk, 7 p.m. June 18. 952-563-4777 or bloomingtonartcenter.com)
