HOMETOWN EDITIONS

Opening today: Since its inception in 2001, Highpoint Center for Printmaking has brought nationally and internationally known artists to Minneapolis to work with master printer Cole Rogers, and has simultaneously nurtured local talents. Five Twin Cities-based artists -- Mary Esch, Clarence Morgan, Todd Norsten, David Rathman and Carolyn Swiszcz -- who have completed editions at Highpoint are featured in a new show. It includes etchings inspired by a Tolstoy story, abstract silhouettes, images derived from suburban landscapes and western vignettes including Rathman's droll and enigmatic gunslinger, shown here, in an etching titled "I forgot it was Sunday." (6:30-9 p.m. today, free opening reception. Highpoint Center, 2638 Lyndale Av. S., Mpls. Ends April 26. Free. 612-871-1326, or www.highpointprintmaking.org.)
