Art fair weekend

More than 650 national and regional artists -- painters, photographers, potters, jewelers, toymakers, glass-blowers and others -- will gather at three free events in Minneapolis this weekend.

UPTOWN ART FAIR

Highlights: 360 artists; "Family Imagination Station," including clay crafts at Walker Library Courtyard; wine garden and performance stage (belly dancing, Irish dancing, music) at Old Chicago parking lot; Youth Art Fair in Calhoun Square.

When: Noon-8 p.m. Fri.; 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Sat.; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sun.

Where: W. Lake St. at Hennepin Av. S., Mpls.

POWDERHORN ART FAIR

Highlights: 184 artists, local showcase, 20th anniversary display, children's activities and performances by Open Eye Theatre, acoustic music.

When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat.; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun.

Where: Powderhorn Park, 3400 15th Av. S., Mpls.

LORING PARK ART FESTIVAL

Highlights: 140 artists, stage performances, children's activities.

When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sat.; 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sun.

Where: Loring Park, Oak Grove St. and Hennepin Av. S., opposite Minneapolis Sculpture Garden.

FREE TRANSIT
