Minnesota State Moorhead has fate on its side.
Demetrius Carr connected with Adam Jiskra on a 22-yard touchdown pass with 1 minute, 20 seconds remaining, lifting the Dragons over Augustana (S.D.) 35-34 on Saturday in a battle of unbeaten NSIC teams.
Carr's fourth TD pass of the day, and third to Jiskra, gave the Dragons (3-0, 3-0 NSIC) a 35-32 lead. They took a safety on the final play of the game after Michael Strand intercepted a pass with 21 seconds left.
Carr completed 25 of 29 passes for 446 yards. Jiskra made six catches for 93 yards.
Strand had another interception earlier in the game, and the Dragons picked off junior quarterback Trey Heid four times. They also sacked him four times.
C.J. Ham ran the ball 25 times for 138 yards and three TDs for the Vikings (2-1, 2-1).
The Dragons were coming off a 30-28 victory over Concordia that they won on the final play of the game.
Southwest Minnesota State 21, St. Cloud State 20: It looked like the Mustangs and Huskies could be headed to overtime when St. Cloud State's Nate Meyer scored on a 3-yard run with 3:25 remaining. The extra-point kick was missed, however, and the Mustangs had their first victory over the Huskies since 1981.
