Zenner rushes for 295 yards in SDSU's victory over UND

• south Dakota state 35, north Dakota 28: Zach Zenner ran for 295 yards and scored four touchdowns as the visiting Jackrabbits beat North Dakota in the annual Potato Bowl game. North Dakota scored first on a 39-yard strike from freshman Ryan Bartels to senior Greg Hardin. But SDSU (2-0) scored 28 unanswered points, including three straight scores from Zenner.

• Kansas 31, south Dakota 14: James Sims scored twice and Jake Heaps passed for 110 yards and one TD in his much-anticipated debut, leading the host Jayhawks past the Coyotes. Heaps saw his first action since transferring from BYU, where he smashed most freshman passing records. He sat out last season while the Jayhawks sank to 1-11 in Charlie Weis' first year as coach. On one especially memorable play for long-suffering Jayhawk fans, Heaps hit Justin McKay with a 5-yard touchdown pass — the first scoring catch by a Kansas wide receiver since Oct. 22, 2011. South Dakota has lost 16 consecutive road games.

• north Dakota state 56, ferris state 10: Brock Jensen threw for two touchdowns and rushed for one to lead the Bison (2-0) over the Bulldogs (0-1) in Fargo. It was the 15th straight home-opening win for the two-time defending FCS champions. Jensen was 19-for-23 for 259 yards with completions to nine different receivers.
