For the second consecutive week, the St. Thomas offense was productive.

After scoring 57 points last week — a program high for the Division I era — St. Thomas went over 50 points again in a 55-17 victory over Valparaiso on Saturday at O’Shaughnessy Stadium.

Amari Powell, a senior making his first start of the season, passed for 265 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 42 yards and a touchdown for the Tommies (4-3, 2-2 Pioneer). Powell threw three TD passes and scored on a 20-yard run in the first half as the Tommies scored on all six of their first-half possessions to open a 34-10 halftime lead.

Ryan Jackson, a sophomore, completed 10 of 13 passes for 75 yards and rushed for a team-high 48 yards for the Tommies, who outgained Valpo 483-254.

Michael Mansaray ran for 121 yards on 20 carries for the Beacons (1-6, 0-3).

North Dakota State 38, Indiana State 7: Barika Kpeenu ran for 113 yards and two touchdowns as the top-ranked Bison pulled away from the host Sycamores after a long halftime weather delay in Terre Haute, Ind. The Bison overcame a rare 7-0 deficit to lead 10-7 at halftime before scoring four second-half touchdowns in the rain. North Dakota State visits No. 2 South Dakota State Oct. 25.

South Dakota State 35, Murray State 14: Backup quarterback Luke Marble threw for 189 yards and two TDs as the undefeated host Jackrabbits beat the winless Racers. Marble entered after starter Chase Mason was injured on the first drive of the game. South Dakota State had four interceptions — two by Jalen Lee — to offset 327 passing yards and two TD passes from Murray State’s Jim Ogle. The Racers have lost their past 18 conference games.

North Dakota 38, Southern Illinois 19: Sawyer Seidl, a sophomore from Hill-Murray, rushed for 108 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries and caught a 11-yard TD pass to lead the No. 9 Fighting Hawks over the No. 12 Salukis in Carbondale, Ill. Seidl rushed for 86 yards in the first half, with touchdown runs of 26, 18 and 21 yards. The Fighting Hawks finished with 311 rushing yards and has won four games in a row.

South Dakota 17, Northern Iowa 14: Aidan Bouman (Buffalo) passed for 202 yards and two touchdowns, both to Larenzo Fenner, to lead the Coyotes over the host Panthers for their third consecutive victory. Zeke Mata kicked a school-record 58-yard field goal on the final play of the first half to give South Dakota a 10-7 halftime lead, and Fenner’s 67-yard touchdown catch put the Coyotes up by 10 in the third quarter. The Panthers scored with 41 seconds remaining to pull within three, but the Coyotes recovered the ensuing onside kick.

Division II

Northern State 55, Southwest Minnesota State 23: The host Wolves scored on their first five possessions en route to beating the Mustangs in Saturday’s lone NSIC game in Aberdeen, S.D. Turriff’s final TD pass — a 25-yarder to Noah Huebner — gave the Knights a 41-32 lead with 9:22 remaining. Greenville scored with 3:18 left to pull within two points and got the ball back with three seconds remaining, but a pass from their own 38-yard line was incomplete.

Northwestern (St. Paul) 21, Minnesota Morris 3: Basil Demco threw two TD passes and ran for a TD to lead the Eagles past the host Cougars for their first victory of the season.
