Nick Pieruccini threw four TD passes and ran for a score in the first half to spark Minnesota State Mankato to a 45-12 victory over St. Cloud State in an NSIC interdivision game in St. Cloud on Saturday.
The host Huskies led 6-0 in the first quarter before Pieruccini led the Mavericks to 35 unanswered points and a 35-6 halftime lead.
Pieruccini, a senior from Chicago, threw for 282 yards and ran for 109 as the Mavericks, ranked No. 19 in Division II, rolled up 503 yards in offense.
Minn. Duluth 52, Concordia (St. Paul) 49: Darren Walker's 3-yard TD run with 2:03 remaining in the fourth quarter — his third TD of the game — lifted the Bulldogs past the Golden Bears in St. Paul.
The Golden Bears had taken a 49-44 lead with six minutes remaining on a 31-yard TD run by Ron Johnson.
Drew Bauer passed for 246 yards and two TDs and rushed for 151 yards and a TD to lead the Bullodgs, Walker rushed for 113 yards.
Johnson passed for 252 yards and three TDs and rushed for 70 yards and two TDs for the Golden Bears.
Bemidji State 45, Wayne State 17: Tahi Nomane ran for two TDs and Damon Benham intercepted two passes to help the host Beavers improve to 3-0 for the first time since 2011.
