AP PHOTOS: Deep freeze covers eastern US, rare snow blankets part of Middle East

An arctic blast that forecasters are calling the "Siberian Express" plunged the eastern half of the United States into a deep freeze Friday — as far south as Florida.

Meanwhile, a place less accustomed to the big chill got a taste as up to 10 inches of snow fell in Israel, Jordan, Lebanon and elsewhere in the Middle East.
