Another deal Thursday helped Wolves, too

One of the main grumbles about the deal that landed Kevin Garnett for Thad Young is that the Wolves could have had a first-round pick instead of Young as part of this summer's blockbuster Kevin Love deal. The Wolves wanted a veteran power forward and thought they could contend.

That draft pick, which is Miami's first-rounder in 2015, was looking pretty juicy as the Heat slid down the Eastern Conference standings.

But Miami's acquisition of Goran Dragic on Thursday should boost the Heat and ensure their draft position is in the mid- to late teens, softening the blow.
