Andover, Minnetonka, Edina, Maple Grove advance in Minnesota 2A girls' hockey

And then there were four.

The semifinals are set in Class 2A girls' hockey. Maple Grove earned the final spot, rallying to defeat Hill-Murray 3-2 in Thursday night's late game.

The Crimson have a tall task ahead.

No. 1-seeded Edina, seeking a fourth consecutive Class 2A championship, cleared the first of three hurdles on Thursday, defeating Burnsville 4-0.

The Hornets scored 34 seconds into the game and used a dominating opening period to roll to victory.

Andover and Minnetonka set up their Class 2A semifinal Thursday afternoon wiuth convincing victories in their opening games of the state girls' hockey tournament.

No. 2-seed Andover didn't get any goals from its top line, but other players came through in a 6-0 shutout of Farmington. Andover goalie Amanda Pelkey stopped 12 shots to earn her fourth consecutive postseason shutout.

Later, No. 3-seed Minnetonka led Roseau 3-2 midway through their game before scoring once in the second period and three times in the third for a 7-2 victory over the Rams. Emily Bayless scored twice and had an assist for the Skippers.

The semifinals in Class 1A are Friday afternoon and the 2A teams play in the evening.
