All-Star balloting begins (and you can still vote for Ben Revere)

It's never been accused of being a perfect process, but did anyone really think Revere would be an All Star in 2012?

MLB's team websites are touting the start of All-Star balloting today and twinsbaseball.com has a cheerful feature touting the candidacy of Josh Willingham, one of nine Twins on the ballot.

One of the nine is Ben Revere, who had two singles in four games before being sent down to Class AAA Rochester last weekend when the Twins picked up Clete Thomas on waivers.

We're not intending to be snarky here, but putting guys like Revere and Chris Parmelee on the ballot is as much an invitation to not take voting seriously as the rule allowing voters "to cast up to 25 ballots per email address."

And, of course, it's silly to start voting only a dozen games into the season.

So consider this Upload's defense for ignoring the fans' balloting. In this case, we're going to try not saying anything because we can't say anything nice -- until we change our mind.

Randle was a strong candidate to play in the All-Star Game on Sunday, but was not chosen and will head to the beach instead.
