Aisle style: Fashion of real Minnesota weddings

February 18, 2014 at 7:06PM

They say love is meant to be shared. Well, so are the wedding-day looks of Minnesota couples with a keen fashion sense. We kick off our occasional glance at aisle style with a spring wedding that had snow in the forecast.

For Jill and Benjamin Montag, the surprise called for some quick thinking and an old fur coat. The result was a day filled with classic elegance. "The fur was a game-day decision — actually something that has been in my closet for a number of years and primarily used by my 6-year-old niece, Ruby, for dress-up," said Jill Montag of Minneapolis. "There was a moment of panic (sleeveless dresses!) and then I remembered the vintage rabbit fur coat. Some things are just meant to be."

The Montags: Jill, 36, and Benjamin, 32

Wedding date: April 12, 2013.

The proposal: After a long dinner at Saffron, and with her grandmother's wedding ring.

The venue: Day Block Event Center, Minneapolis.
