Air Force blanks No. 1 Michigan

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. - Andrew Volkening made 43 saves, and Derrick Burnett and Jacques Lamoureux scored in Air Force's 2-0 victory over Michigan on Friday in the first round of the NCAA East Regional.

Ex-Centennial athlete Greg Flynn assisted on both goals for the fourth-seeded Falcons (28-10-2). Flynn is the nation's highest-scoring defenseman.

Air Force beat No. 1 seed Michigan (29-12) despite being outshot 43-13. The Wolverines were 0-for-7 on the power play in getting shut out for the first time in 71 NCAA tournament games.

Vermont 4, Yale 1: Rob Madore made 26 saves, and Corey Carlson, Viktor Stalberg, Colin Vock and Peter Lenes scored as the third-seeded Catamounts (21-11-5) eliminated the Bulldogs (24-8-2).
