David Kahn called Greg Stiemsma's agent back this morning as he said he would.
According to Chicago-based Mike Naiditch, the two agreed that Stiemsma and the Wolves are a good fit each other, they talked some contract numbers, nothing formally, there was no offer and the two will speak again on Friday while the Wolves continue to assemble this fluid puzzle while they pursue everyone from Nicolas Batum and Brandon Roy to Pau Gasol, Ray Allen, Lou Williams and others.
Batum stayed over in Minneapolis on Monday night and continued to meet with Wolves officials on Tuesday. He is expected to meet with the Blazers later this week.
Naiditch, who grew up in Golden Valley, said 13 teams invited Stiemsma to training camp before he signed with Boston before last season. He said several of those teams are still interested and added his client may visit another team or team(s).
The Wolves called at 11:01 p.m. Saturday -- one minute after free agency began -- and set up a Sunday morning visit.
Stiemsma grew up in Wisconsin and was a Timberwolf for about seven months in the 2010 offseason.
He is a restricted free agent, so the Celtics have a right to match any offer.
Stiemsma is 6-11 center who'd give the Wolves a big physical body and a bit of a shot blocker backing up Nikola Pekovic. He'll turn 27 just before the start of training camp in late September.
