The allure of gemstones and minerals long has inspired designers captivated by their natural beauty. Slices of agate are particularly rocking home decor because of their mesmerizing crystal quality, swirling bands and range of subtle to brilliant hues. Aerin Lauder likes them; she has brilliant green agate coasters with 18-karat edges in her home line. For his spring collection, Phillip Lim designed silks splashed with vivid agate-y graphics in brilliant blues. Last fall, Target's Threshhold collection included gorgeous glass trays imprinted with agate patterns. While some products might trend in and out, the look is rock solid.
